The NRA is seeking mid-level architectural designers who possess a solid technical background combined with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, to provide innovative and creative solutions for a diverse portfolio of projects. NRA's mid-level architects

Mid-level architectural designers contribute to all design stages, from conceptualization and schematic design to detailed development. These designers independently or collaboratively prepare conceptual and schematic designs, as project scope and individual expertise dictate, for regulatory submission and contribute to final design documents. Responsibilities include participation in new construction, additions, alterations, renovations, upgrades, and restorations, contributing from initial design through project completion. The goal is to consistently deliver sustainable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing designs that meet client needs.

Job responsibilities

If you are hired, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with and supporting senior architects throughout all project stages, from proposal to completion;
  • Assisting senior architects in preparing presentation materials;
  • Contributing to design development through sketches, 3D models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual media;
  • Ensuring adherence to building codes, standards, regulations, and professional guidelines;
  • Executing space planning, block planning, and adjacency studies in alignment with the building program;
  • Preparing and revising design documents across various architectural stages, including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, sections, ironmongery schematics, Bills of Quantities, and details;
  • Coordinating building systems (structural, MEP, landscape, etc.) to ensure design compatibility;
  • Assisting in evaluation and selection of building systems and materials;
  • Attending project coordination meetings with internal and external team members;
  • Participating in value engineering and cost estimating;
  • Implementing sustainable design principles;
  • Assisting with site analysis and research;
  • Participating in site visits;
  • Preparing site visit reports.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited university;
  • 2+ years of relevant professional experience;
  • A comprehensive portfolio showcasing artistic capabilities;
  • Fundamental knowledge and application of accessibility and applicable building codes;
  • Understanding of building construction systems, methods, materials, and industry standards;
  • Proficiency in all phases of architectural documents and the correlation between drawings and specifications;
  • Ability to perform space planning, block planning, and adjacency analysis in alignment with project programming;
  • Capacity to develop architectural graphics (site plans, floor plans, building elevations, etc.);
  • Ability to review work for accuracy and completeness, and to manage time effectively to meet project budgets and schedules;
  • Active contribution to collaborative project teams throughout all stages of architectural documents;
  • Creative and critical thinking, effective presentation of concepts and ideas through sketching and other means;
  • Interpretation of sketches, drawings, building programs, and related materials;
  • Effective presentation of abstract ideas, both verbally and in writing;
  • Proficiency in the following software (preffered): Autodesk 3Ds Max, Rhino, and Grasshopper;
  • Fluency in writen and spoken English, including technical terminology;
  • Fluency in additional languages is desireable;
  • Keen visual awareness and attention to detail;
  • Collaborative spirit, ambition, and adaptability within a team setting;
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development;
  • Excellent team communication, design presentation, and storytelling skills;
  • Experience in detailing and executing construction documents with minimal supervision;
  • High motivation, proactiveness, passion, proper organizational skills, and detail-oriented approach
