NOMINATION FOR THE 2024 PIRANESI AWARD

This year, NRA representatives Nikola Radović, Sonja Milićević, Nina Simović, Jovan Balandžić and Danilo Đurišić received an international Piranesi Award nomination for their outstanding design of the recently completed Day Care Center for the Elderly in Golubovci, Montenegro.

The Piran Days of Architecture is a globally recognized architectural conference boasting one of the world’s longest-standing traditions. Its objective is to assess the current socio-architectural landscape and showcase the most advanced and creative concepts in contemporary architectural and spatial design, emphasizing the preservation of cultural identity and diversity through comprehension and respect for geographical and cultural contexts.

The Day Care Center for the Elderly strives to create a homelike environment, providing essential services and improving the quality of life for its members. In today’s busy world, the needs of senior citizens are often overlooked, as family members may not always be able to provide adequate care. Therefore, a center offering daily activities and companionship allows seniors to remain engaged and connected, avoiding isolation and institutionalization. Research indicates that activities like board games, modified sports, and gardening are beneficial for maintaining the physical and mental well-being of seniors (65+).

The NRA collective extends their sincere gratitude to the national Montenegrin selector Ms. Slavica Stamatović Vučković for recognizing and selecting our colleagues’ design among other esteemed projects to represent Montenegro.
