Spiral Crest

At the very entrance to Tivat, where the town begins to unfold along the Montenegrin coast, Spiral Crest rises as the first architectural gesture that visitors encounter. Its presence is immediate and unavoidable - a building that naturally becomes part of the town's identity simply by standing at its threshold. Tivat is known for its lively rhythm, its blend of tradition and modernity, and its constant flow of residents and visitors. Spiral Crest reflects this energy, offering a contemporary residence that greets everyone who arrives.

Spiral Crest is a building that embodies both urban energy and residential calm, reflecting the dual character of Tivat itself. The building houses fourteen apartments, each designed to maximize natural light and orientation. Balconies extend living spaces outward, framing views of the mountains, the town, and the horizon. The apartments vary in size, but all share a focus on comfort, openness, and exclusivity. On the ground floor, two business spaces anchor the building to the street. These spaces are flexible, designed to accommodate offices, studios, or small enterprises, but one of them is envisioned to transform into a restaurant. Their transparent glass facades invite interaction, ensuring that Spiral Crest contributes to the everyday rhythm of Tivat. Practicality is an essential part of the project. Spiral Crest provides 20 parking spaces in the underground garage and 6 additional spaces at street level, ensuring accessibility and convenience for residents and visitors. This provision strengthens the building’s role as a welcoming threshold, accommodating the flow of people and vehicles entering Tivat.

The facade is defined by a combination of local stone and silicate render in varied colors. These materials root the building in its context, connecting it to the traditions of the region while expressing a contemporary identity. The stone conveys permanence and authenticity, while the render introduces rhythm and variation, giving the building a lively, layered appearance. Large windows and generous balconies punctuate the facade, ensuring openness and transparency. The terraces are adorned with greenery and flowering plants, softening the geometry and creating a vertical garden effect. This integration of vegetation adds warmth and atmosphere, turning Spiral Crest into a living structure that interacts with its surroundings. The material palette is central to the building's identity. Local stone grounds the building in its Montenegrin context, while silicate render in varied tones adds vibrancy and rhythm. Together, they create a facade that is resilient, expressive, and unmistakably contemporary.

The atmosphere of the building is both urban and calm. At street level, activity flows through the business areas and outdoor seating, while the upper floors provide privacy and retreat. This balance defines Spiral Crest's character: lively in its contribution to the town, serene in its offering to residents. The rooftop and terraces are landscaped, extending the building's green identity upward. This gesture enhances sustainability, reduces heat gain, and creates microclimates that improve comfort. It also strengthens the building's silhouette, making it recognizable from multiple vantage points. Light plays across the facade throughout the day, animating the surfaces of stone and render. This building embodies the energy of Tivat while offering a sanctuary within it. It does not impose itself, but it cannot be overlooked. For residents, it is a place of comfort and exclusivity; for visitors, it is a first impression that sets the tone for what lies ahead.
