The Y House is nestled within the breathtaking natural beauty of Montenegro’s Bjelasica mountain range, providing magnificent views. The location is a cherished family heirloom, graced with numerous mature trees planted by generations past. The primary design objective was to create a space where inhabitants may fully appreciate the majestic mountain vistas while preserving the land’s natural heritage.
The house’s design thoughtfully separates private and communal spaces. Three bedrooms – two for guests and children, and one master suite – all enjoy lovely mountain and garden views. The open plan living and kitchen area form the heart of the home, with expansive sliding windows opening onto a terrace. This seamless indoor-outdoor flow beautifully connects the house to its surroundings while also proving a cost-effective design by eliminating the need for a separate terrace roof. The exterior boasts durable, minimalist colored metal cladding, which enhances the industrial aesthetic while ensuring long-term preservation and low maintenance. Sliding metal shutters on the windows provide added security when the house is unoccupied. In contrast, the interior offers warmth and simplicity, utilizing natural birch plywood to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. This balance of functionality and comfort perfectly embodies the spirit of a family house – a retreat that celebrates both nature and comfort.
